What to Expect From a Professional Gift Wrapping Service

If you’ve never hired a professional gift wrapping service, you may wonder how the whole thing works. Do you bring your own paper? Do you choose every ribbon and bow? How do you make sure the right tag ends up on the right gift? Most of us are used to wrapping gifts ourselves at the kitchen table, so handing over a pile of unwrapped presents to someone else can feel a little unfamiliar the first time.
The process should actually be quite simple for you. You choose the gifts and provide the information needed to keep them straight, and your gift wrapper takes care of the supplies, wrapping, labeling, and all the little details that turn those gifts into something beautiful to give.
You Don’t Need to Bring Wrapping Supplies
One of the pleasures of handing off your gift wrapping is that you can also hand off the shopping for paper, ribbon, bows, tags, and all the other supplies that go with it. At Paper & Bows, premium wrapping paper, ribbon, a hand-tied bow, and a gift tag are included with every gift, with specialty wrapping techniques and additional embellishments available if you want something a little different.
You also don’t need to know which ribbon looks best with a particular paper or how much decoration a package needs. In fact, some of the prettiest gifts are fairly simple. A beautiful paper with a well-tied ribbon may need nothing else, while another package may be just right for an unusual fold, a botanical detail, or a small embellishment.
You’ll Choose a Look, Not Design Every Package
Some people have very definite ideas about how they want their Christmas gifts to look, while others would be perfectly happy never thinking about wrapping paper again. A professional service should work for both.
At Paper & Bows, you can choose an overall look from The Holiday Collection, whether you love traditional Christmas plaids, natural botanicals, rich jewel tones, nostalgic patterns, or something brighter and more playful. Once you’ve chosen the style, the individual papers, ribbons, and finishing details are selected to work together.
If you would rather leave the decisions to us, you can do that too. You shouldn’t have to choose Paper A, Ribbon B, and Bow C for every gift unless that happens to be your idea of a good time.
Your Gifts Should Be Accounted For
Beautiful wrapping matters, but so does knowing exactly what happened to the gifts you handed over.
Before wrapping begins at Paper & Bows, your gifts are inventoried and photographed, with the recipient and any special instructions recorded for each item. Once they are wrapped, they are labeled, checked, and organized by recipient before being returned to you.
This becomes especially important when you have a larger holiday order. A few gifts are easy enough to keep straight, but when there are gifts for children, parents, grandparents, teachers, and friends all arriving at the same time, relying on memory is not a particularly good system.
You should be able to hand over your gifts knowing that each one will come back accounted for and correctly labeled.
Coordinated Gifts Don’t Have to Match
If you have several gifts for one person or household, professional wrapping gives you the opportunity to make them look beautiful together without wrapping every box in exactly the same paper.
A group might include a plaid, a coordinating solid, and a subtle print, with the same ribbon appearing on more than one package. Another group might use several papers in the same color family with different ribbons and finishing details. The connection is there, but every gift still has a little personality of its own.
This is especially pretty at Christmas, when all those packages eventually end up together under the tree. There is a noticeable difference between gifts that happen to be wrapped and a group of gifts that look like they belong together.
Tell Us What Matters to You
Choosing a wrapping style doesn’t mean you lose the personal part of giving a gift. If your mother loves red plaid, your daughter would adore something bright and colorful, or you strongly prefer simple wrapping, those are exactly the kinds of things worth mentioning.
The same goes for practical details. If several items belong together, a package needs special handling, or there is something else we should know before wrapping begins, include it with your gift information.
You don’t need to have an opinion about every detail. Giving us the information that matters to you leaves plenty of room for us to take care of the rest.
What About the Odd-Shaped Stuff?
Anyone who has wrapped Christmas gifts knows that eventually something shows up that bears absolutely no resemblance to a box. Toys, clothing, bottles, baskets, and other unusually shaped gifts may need a different wrapping technique, and sometimes adding a box is the best solution.
If you aren’t sure whether something can be wrapped, it’s worth asking. An unusual shape doesn’t automatically mean it has to go into a gift bag, and sometimes working with the shape of the gift results in a much more interesting package.
When Your Gifts Come Back
At the end of the process, your gifts are returned wrapped, labeled, and organized by recipient, ready to go under the tree or be given to the people you bought them for. You can see exactly what is included and how the Paper & Bows process works on our Professional Gift Wrapping Services page.
Saving time is certainly part of the appeal of hiring a professional gift wrapping service, especially during the holidays, but presentation is part of it too. You spent time choosing something you think another person will love, and the wrapping gets to build a little anticipation before they discover what is inside. When someone stops to look at the package, notices the folds or ribbon, and hesitates for just a second because it seems almost too pretty to open, the wrapping has done its job.
